A Naaguja-Style Opera
On June 6, 2024, at a site on the Greenough River just south of Geraldton, a ceremony took place marking the 170th anniversary of the massacre at Pelican Springs. Theona Councillor, descendant of the Naaguja people murdered on this day, invited members of her own family to attend, and extended the invitation to the descendants of the settlers involved in the massacre.
